Another Promotion to Omaha

Colon Promotion
Roman Colon is the second Natural pitcher in as many weeks to be promoted to Omaha. Colon pitched fairly well while with the Naturals - 2-0/5.29, but he wasn't spectacular. One of the few Nats with MLB experience (he's played for Atlanta and Detroit), Colon might be headed up to the big leagues soon. Obviously, he would be the first former Natural to play in the big leagues.

Alumnus Prospect Watch
Former Nat Devon Lowery, promoted to AAA Omaha last week, is still dominating hitters. In three appearanced, Lowery has pitched 6 1/3 innings, and has allowed two hits while striking out 3, walking nobody and allowing zero earned runs.

It'll be nice to see one of these guys get a shot at the big club. Hard to tell whether the Royals will move either one of them up, but with a team that's struggling as much as the Royals do perennially, there's always room for effective pitchers.

Who are the NWA roster replacements for these two promotions?

Sorry - I should have put something about the additions to the roster.

Tha Royals promoted Chris Hayes from Wilmington to replace Lowery. Hayes went undrafted out of Northwestern, pitched in an independent league in 2006, then had a pretty solid year in Burlington in 2007 (11 SVs 51K/14BB)

It looks like Tim Hamulack was sent down from Omaha to NWA when Colon was promoted. Hamulack was recently acquired from the Dodgers, and has appeared in 39 Major League games (NYM - 6, LAD - 33).

The Naturals have also added Ray Liotta to the roster. Liotta was acquired in the 2007 Rule 5 draft. He spent all of 2007 out with a shoulder injury, has yet to appear in a game this season, and is currently on the 7-day DL.

Correction - Hayes was promoted to replace Cortes, who was placed on the DL. Hard to tell exactly who came in for whom, especially since there are still two open roster spots.

Pretty sure Hamulack and Liotta were added to replace some DL and/or promotion guys, though.

Funny - Hayes is listed as the player who replaced both Cortes and Lowery - go figure. OK, I'm going to stop with the posting. I can't figure out how to edit the posts, though - anyone know?
